The rotary engine stands as one of the most unique engineering feats in automotive history—compact, high-revving, and remarkably smooth. Mazda fully embraced this innovation, fitting it into various models, but it was with the FD-generation RX-7 that the brand truly reached its pinnacle.
Featured here is a late-model Series 8 FD3S, finished in a bold Vintage Red. Enhanced with updated aerodynamic bodywork for improved airflow, this example also sports tasteful upgrades like Rays CE28SL wheels, elevating both form and function.
Step inside, and you're greeted by a pristine, driver-focused cockpit—fully original and meticulously maintained. From the instrument cluster angled toward the driver to the Nardi-designed steering wheel and perfectly placed shifter, every detail is built around the driving experience.
Power comes from the legendary 13B rotary, now paired with upgraded sequential turbochargers, a Trust intercooler, and titanium exhaust, delivering enhanced power to the rear wheels. Already known for its low center of gravity and sharp handling, this FD has been further refined with Tein coilovers, poly bushings, strut bars, and AP Racing brakes, offering precise control and confidence at every corner.
Driven and approved by Sara Choi in the 2024 Gumball 3000, this restomodded RX-7 isn’t just a machine—it’s a future collector’s gem.
