1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI
When Porsche added this model to their iconic 911 series, they meant business. With a lightweight chassis, refined handling, and a re-engineered engine, the RS series originated with the legendary F-Model 2.7 RS. However, there’s a rare and fascinating twin to this icon.
Meet this fully restored, Guards Red ‘74 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI. With less than 2,000 units ever produced, it was specially built to meet strict U.S. regulations, notably the impact bumpers. It also boasts a distinctive ‘whale tail’ deck lid, ‘Carrera’ decals along the sides, and sits on classic Fuch wheels, completing its distinctive look.
The interior takes you back in time with its original console, radio, and analog dashboard, featuring everything from the hand throttle to the fuel pumps, evoking a nostalgic charm. The plaid-patterned leather seats complement the bold exterior, making the 2.7 MFI a ‘Touring version’ of the original Carrera RS.
Under the whale tail lies the same 2.7-liter flat-six engine, the MFI was sent and restored by Bosch UK, delivering a powerful performance. Mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox, alongside precise handling and a lightweight build, the 2.7 MFI promises a driving experience like no other.
The 911 2.7 MFI doesn’t just pay tribute to the RS’s racing spirit—it embodies it. Some say this is the start of the ‘real 911’ with the performance to match the visual promise, which we reckon it did live up to its name.
